Student Show and Lecture Demonstration

This demonstration by Salvage Vanguard Theater is designed to introduce audiences to the world of The Intergalactic Nemesis and the techniques by which the sound design is created. The presentation consists of performing one episide of the series, followed by a detailed demonstration of how the sound effects were created. Then, two volunteers are selected from the audience and the episode is performed again with the volunteers creating the sound effects. Generally, the foley lecture/demonstration laste 45 minutes to one hour, with the entire company performing. This demonstration is perfect for middle-schools.

Improvisation Classes

Master improvisation classes by Salvage Vanguard Theater are designed to introduce participants to the wode variety of improv techniques used by members of the Intergalactic Nemesis cast, specifically in the "commercials" between episodes. Specific content is determined according to the age an dability of the participants. The classes are open to anyone age nine to ninety. Generally a master class is 1-1/2 hours in duration. In the clas, the instructors cover basic improvisatory technique including "yes, and…", status, and listening techniques. Participation in the master classes are limited to 25 people to ensure that participants get the most out of the experience. The classes are led by one of the Intergalactic Nemesis actors, and assisted by a second actor.

Have Your Cake and Eat It Too: Creating a Theatre Company Without "Selling Out"

SVT's artistic director Jason Neulander presents a highly entertaining lecture about how he founded Salvage Vanguard Theater on the concept of creating new work for new audiences and has been able to grow his company without compromising his vision. He'll talk about how he has developed relationships with artists, audiences, and funders, relaying anecdotes that will keep the audience entertained from start to finish. The final 20 minutes of the presentation are open to questions from the audience.
