Picture This…
You’re a member of a 1930s radio studio audience. Before you sits
the broadcast studio: the Wizard of Oz’s antechamber and Frankenstein’s
lab rolled into one. Downstage, the sound effects booth, littered with train
whistles, giant metal electrodes, dials, and gauges. The lights fade to black.
A voice from the darkness: “Somewhere in the Carpathian Mountains of
Eastern Europe…” And you’re transported through time and
space.
Welcome to the world of The Intergalactic Nemesis. The
year is 1933. Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter Molly Sloan and her intrepid
assistant Timmy Mendez are hot on the trail of a story. When a mysterious stranger
saves their lives, they discover their journey is inextricably intertwined with
his and the story they were seeking is much bigger than they could have possibly
imagined! The fate of two galaxies hangs in the balance and our heroes are the
only thing standing in the way of a devastating invasion of sludge monsters from
the planet Zygon! It's Star Wars meets Raiders of the Lost
Ark with a little of Flash Gordon thrown in for good measure. And
it rocks!
The spectacle of The Intergalactic Nemesis lies in the power of the audience's imagination. Think Where the Wild Things Are and you have the right idea. We start in a radio studio, but it’s not long before we’re all careening through outer space, following Molly’s adventures as she battles to save the galaxy from imminent destruction.
The Austinist put it this way: "It's
pretty hard not to like Salvage Vanguard Theater's The Intergalactic
Nemesis. ... An incredibly engaging, entertaining night at
the theatre."
"More fun than I’ve had in a theatre in some time!" --The
Austin Chronicle
The Austin American-Statesman put it this way: "Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, earthlings and aliens, witness an amazing event as Salvage Vanguard Theater brings a blast from the past with The Intergalactic Nemesis. … perfect summer entertainment."
Watch for the rest of the trilogy, too, with Return of the Intergalactic Nemesis and The Intergalactic Nemesis: Twin Infinity.
