[ THRUSH: A Play with Songs, a world premiere by Caridad Svich ]
"But we rise. And keep walking. Somehow..."
"Scenes from war and after... Songs for broken times. A love story and vaudeville of the far and near country. A young woman walks the fields. A young man trails her. The ghost voices of the fallen rise up in ballads, hymns, blues and swing as if torn from roots of mad sorrow."
Thrush explores the world of the displaced and their constant push for survival. A story of refugees and their journey through destruction, deceit, broken expectations and revelation of inner strength and beauty. Using SVT's new warehouse space as a site-specific environment,Thrush creates uplifting moments of the unexpected.

| CHORUS Howling boy, I cry. Burn me. Put me out. And you burn. Hah. You stick light on my flesh. And I close my eyes. We bleed. We are crushed. We fall silent. But we rise. And keep walking. Somehow, Incognito. Incognita… |
