SALVAGE VANGUARD THEATER ANNOUNCES OFFICAL SPACE LAUNCH CELEBRATION: JUNE 1st

(Austin, TX)- The countdown has begun for the official opening of the Salvage Vanguard Theater with the brand new theater's doors open to the public on June 1st. Located at 2803 Manor Rd., the new Salvage Vanguard Theater will house a 100-seat theater, a classroom that will double as a 50-seat theater, a full scene shop, an exhibition gallery and lobby, 11 artist studios and the Salvage Vanguard offices.

“We’ve been talking about this pretty much since the company was founded,” says Salvage Vanguard Theater’s Artistic Director Jason Neulander. “Now, thanks to incredible support from a wide variety of sources, we’re able to make that dream a reality.”

After 13 years of being homeless, the Salvage Vanguard Theater has performed its productions in venues all across Austin including the now-extinct Electric Lounge and Church of the Friendly Ghost, a tented parking lot at 5th & Lamar and room 320 at The Woodward Hotel. On April 25, 2006, Salvage Vanguard Theater signed an eight-year lease with the option to renew on the 9,600 square-foot warehouse with architects Craig Nasso and Andrew Clements, AIA taking charge of the space's design.

Salvage Vanguard Theater will hold an "Official Space Launch" celebration event following the opening performance of its production Mud on June 1st. The event will be catered by East Side Café, with music from local DJ Manateemann, a bar, a photo booth and is open to the public. Attendees should be prepared for 'out of this world experiences' that may or may not include space suits, robots and glowing moon rocks. The production will start at 8:00 PM with the party beginning at 9:30 PM.
