SALVAGE VANGUARD ANNOUNCES NATIONAL TOUR AND CHANGE OF PRODUCTION SEASON

(Austin, TX)- This week Salvage Vanguard Theater officially announced its national tour of The Intergalactic Nemesis beginning in fall of 2006.

"We are so incredibly excited about the opportunity to take this show to other parts of the nation," says Artistic Director Jason Neulander. "It's been a dream of mine to take The Intergalactic Nemesis on the road and for it to finally be an actuality is thrilling."

Originally developed in 1996, the show has undergone numerous rewrites and cast changes in the last ten years, but the science-fiction melodrama remains true to the form of 1930s radio serials complete with live Foley effects and commercial breaks for sponsors. The Intergalactic Nemesis is the first of a trilogy performing at The Blue Theater beginning June 1st.

The Intergalactic Nemesis is scheduled to stop in six different cities including a kick-off performance at the University of Texas' Hogg Auditorium on September 18th. Then it's off to Carbondale, Illinois and Glen Ellyn outside of Chicago in late September, Cal Poly Arts in California in early October, onto Great Barrington, Massachusetts in early January and finally to New York, New York in mid-January. More stops are planned in other parts of the nation, but have yet to be confirmed.

"Holy crap, going on tour is going to be fun," says SVT Resident Company Member Lee Eddy, who plays Pulitzer-prize winning reporter Molly Sloan in Nemesis. "Staying in hotels, flying on planes, eating beef jerky to sustain yourself in between stops. Dude, I can't wait!'

In order for Eddy to join the tour of The Intergalactic Nemesis, Salvage Vanguard Theater has rescheduled its fall production of Bertolt Brecht's Mother Courage. The show is now tentatively scheduled as part of SVT's 2007 season with Eddy remaining in the title role.

Caridad Svich's Thrush will be SVT's fall 2006 production directed by Resident Company Member Jenny Larson. The show will be the inaugural production for SVT's new theater space.

"As a brand new director, in a brand new space, with a brand new world premiere play I feel tickled with excitement," says Larson.

"Thrush is about refugees and searching for home, and in a way SVT has been a displaced company, always hopping around from venue to venue, and now we have FINALLY found a home. Cheesy parallel, I know but PR is PR!" adds Larson.

"Going on tour, opening a new space, a world premiere, it's a great time for SVT," says Neulander.
