SALVAGE VANGUARD THEATER ANNOUNCES ECLECTIC 2006 SEASON
(AUSTIN, TX) - Salvage Vanguard Theater enters its twelfth year by presenting an ambitious season ranging from the sparse confines of a local motel to the vast and fractured landscape of the Thirty Years’ War.
“
I couldn't be more excited about this season. It's one of the
most eclectic we've ever produced,” says SVT’s Artistic Director,
Jason Neulander. “We're looking back to our roots and forward to
the next generation of playwrights.”
The Salvage Vanguard Theater ’s 2006 season includes:
STATIC by Ryan Pavelchik
STATIC, Austin’s introduction to the talents of up-and-coming playwright
Ryan Pavelchik, is a strange and twisted love story.
A young man, dressed in uniform, awakens in a motel room. With the aid
of the television and the
alarm clock, he dissects and confronts his past. Set
in a motel room, performed in a motel room, STATIC leaves the guts wrenched,
the mind reeling, and the
heart touched. Audience members should purchase tickets
early because seating is extremely limited. MARCH 24 - MAY 6, 2006
THE INTERGALACTIC NEMESIS TRILOGY
For the first time ever, SVT performs the complete trilogy
of the popular science fiction radio drama. Follow Pulitzer-Prize
winning reporter
Molly Sloan and her equally adventurous archivist love-interest,
Ben Wilcott, as they travel across time, though galaxies
near and far, and meet a cast
of characters ranging from an evil mesmerist named Mysterion
to a taffy-addicted sidekick named Timmy Mendez to the
German geneticist Dr. Heinemuellerschlossenschlagermeisterschloss.
Every story is different, but the goal is always the
same: Save the Universe! THE INTERGALACTIC NEMESIS trilogy
may be the greatest science fiction trilogy
ever told. Ever. Featuring amazing Foley effects by Buzz
Moran and the vocal talents of a stellar ensemble cast.

tour of the
show. This year, the UT Performing Arts Center is presenting
the likes of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, David Sedaris, and Bonnie
Raitt. SVT’s
Artistic Director Jason Neulander puts it this way: “We couldn’t
be more excited to be included in the season of one of
America’s most

FALL 2006
MOTHER COURAGE AND HER CHILDREN by Bertolt Brecht
MOTHER COURAGE is the story of one woman’s efforts to survive and,
if possible, profit during the Thirty Years’ War. With MOTHER COURAGE,
SVT ventures into uncharted waters by producing its first
classic drama, but with SVT’s unique theatrical spin. “It’s
remarkable,” says
Neulander, “how topical this play written fifty years ago still is
today, particularly under the shadow of the war in Iraq.” At times
hilarious, at times devastating, MOTHER COURAGE stars
resident company member Lee Eddy with original music
by resident composer Graham Reynolds and the
direction of Jason Neulander, Salvage Vanguard explores
the past by producing the playwright who has most influenced
its work. FALL 2006
