DAN DIETZ’S tempOdyssey CHOSEN FOR SUMMER PLAY FESTIVAL
AUSTIN, TX- Salvage Vanguard Theater’s Resident Playwright Dan Dietz will have his play tempOdyssey produced in New York City’s Summer Play Festival
In 2003, TempOdyssesy premiered in Austin by Salvage Vanguard Theater and was nominated for numerous Austin Critic Table Awards and was produced for the New Work Now! festival at the Public Theater in New York.
The goal of the Summer Play Fest is to showcase playwrights who have not
been
produced much in New York. The founder and producer of the festival
is Arielle Tepper, who produced De La Guarda and Spamalot.
“I couldn’t be more excited to be part of the Summer Play Fest. It’s an excellent opportunity to have my work seen not only by New York audiences, but by industry professionals as well. I’ve got a wonderful cast and director,” says Dietz, “and I’m looking forward to going up and working with them.”
Dietz’s plays include Dirigible, Blind Horses, Tilt Angel, tempOdyssey, and Americamisfit, and have been seen in New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, Wilmington, Austin, and elsewhere. Dietz has been honored with a James A. Michener Fellowship, a Josephine Bay Paul Fellowship, and the Austin Critics Table Award for Best New Play.
The 2nd Annual Summer Play Festival will occur July 5th through July 31st. TempOdyssey will be presented July 5th through July 10th at the Beckett Theater and Theater Row.
