THREE AUSTIN MAINSTAYS COMBINE FORCES TO BENEFIT SALVAGE VANGUARD THEATER
AUSTIN, TX-Alamo Drafthouse South, Mars Restaurant and Foleyvision will join forces on May 25th to benefit Salvage Vanguard Theater's Fire Fund with a special viewing of Godfrey Ho's 1978 kung-fu classic, Deadly Silver Ninja.
"Some see fire as warmth and light. Some see fire as a way to cook food. Our building burned down in a fire, so we see fire as a deadly silver ninja!," says Salvage Vanguard Theater's Artistic Director Jason Neulander.
A special screening of Deadly Sliver Ninja will be presented over a three course meal provided by Mars Restaurant while the antics of Austin's Foleyvision entertain audiences.
"We wanted to celebrate overcoming a terrible fire as well as raise the rest of the money we need to get past it once and for all. We figured that teaming up with Alamo Drafthouse, Mars Restaurant and Foleyvision to show a kung-fu classic would be the perfect way to put some closure on the entire incident," says Neulander.
Salvage Vanguard Theater's office was severly damaged in a early-morning fire in February. The theater company lost most of its archives, office supplies and computer equipment and was homeless until finding a new space at 501 Studios.
Foleyvision's presentation of Deadly Silver Ninja will present the classic kung-fu movie with live perfomance of the dialog, sound effects and music.
Deadly Silver Ninja is about a ninja who hides his secret identity by pretending to be an ordinary traveler who fights evil-doers. But when the evil-doers hatch a scheme that the Deadly Silver Ninja cannot handle on his own, he teams up with an old, blind kung fu expert and his beautiful daughter to put as stop to the evil-doers once and for all.
Tickets for this benefit are $50.00 per individual with meal or $15.00 per individual for the movie only. This special screening will be held at 7:00PM on May 25th at Alamo Drafthouse South 1120 South Lamar. All proceeds will go to Salvage Vanguard Theater's Fire Fund. To RSVP, contact Salvage Vanguard Theater at 474-SVT-6.
