SALVAGE VANGUARD OFFICE DAMAGED IN FIRE

AUSTIN, TX-- Salvage Vanguard Theater's office was severly damaged in a fire that destroyed the second floor of the Guadalupe Art Center.

SVT suffered major water and smoke damage. An inch and a half of water was still standing in the office when Artistic Director Jason Neulander, Company Manager Etta Sanders and Marketing Director Lee Eddy surveyed the damage. A layering of wet soot blanketed SVT's 10 years of archives, scripts, CDs and new computer equipment. Windows were shattered, ceiling panels hung from the rafters, and building damage will displace SVT for an undetermined amount of time.

"The fire itself didn't make it to our office, but it may as well have. The soot has permeated everything. The smell is unbearable. I'm pretty sure we're going to have to replace just about everything," says Neulander. "Thankfully, no one got hurt."

An emergency meeting with board and company members will take place to determine what steps to take next.

Genghis Khan, SVT's next production is still on track to open on March 17th. The office has temporarily relocated to Neulander's residence until other office space can be found. Please continue to check SVT's website www.salvagevanguard.org for further updates and information about donations to help salvage Salvage Vanguard.
