MotherBone to be Performed in New York

NEW YORK, NY--MotherBone, an urban opera composed by Graham Reynolds with libretto by Karen Hartman will receive its New York debut at 3:00 PM on March 27 at New Dramatists (424 W. 44th St).

MotherBone, the recipient of the 2003 Frederick Loewe Music Theatre Award was premiered by Salvage Vanguard Theater in Austin, Texas, on October 31, 2002. The critically-accliamed run, directed by Jason Neulander, broke all box office and attendance records for the small theater company. The Austin American-Statesman called the show "Bone-chilling", "vividly expressionistic" and "ferociously smart" and the Austin Chronicle said: "Graham Reynolds' score keeps you on the edge of your seat. ... The 14 actors [fill the stage] with superb song and fantastic emotion. ... It's an amazing show." MotherBone was featured prominently in the October issue of American Theatre magazine.

The New York presentation of MotherBone reunites the original creative team--Reynolds, Hartman, and Neulander--who have revised the show for the purposes of this showcase. It also features the music direction of Tony-nominated composer Jeffrey Stock. A New York-based cast of eight singers will perform the show with piano accompaniment.

"We couldn't be more excited about this presentation," says Neulander. "We've got all kinds of industry people attending. Who knows? Maybe this will lead to a future production."

The showcase of MotherBone is being presented for potential producers and interested audience members. For information and tickets, contact New Dramatists at (212) 757-6960.
