Dan Dietz Play to be Featured at Humana Festival

AUSTIN, TX--Dan Dietz's short play Trash Anthem is being featured in the 2003 Humana Festival of New Plays at the Actors Theatre of Louisville as part of its ten minute play series.

Dan Dietz is the author of Dirigible (Winner, 2000 ACT Award, Best New Play) and Tilt Angel (nominee, 2002 ACT Award, Best New Play), both of which were premiered by Salvage Vanguard Theater to record attendance and critical acclaim. Dan's work has been seen across the country, most notably at Annex Theatre in Seattle, PlayLabs in Minneapolis, and Horizon Theatre in Atlanta. He is also one of Austin's most beloved actors, winning Best Actor awards for his roles in Salvage Vanguard's productions of Ruth Margraff's Centaur Battle of San Jacinto and Mac Wellman's Terminal Hip.

Dietz, currently a paid Resident Company Member with Salvage Vanguard Theater, is thrilled about the opportunity. "It's basically every writer's dream to have a play produced at the Humana Festival at some point.  I couldn't be more excited to have my work in the mix this year," he says. "If it weren't for my Resident Company Membership at Salvage Vanguard Theater, I might not be able to attend the festival at all."

Salvage Vanguard's Resident Company Members are paid a stipend to pursue their artistic careers while based in Austin.

Trash Anthem can be seen at the Humana Festival on April 5 and 6. For details, visit <www.actorstheatre.org>.

Dietz's newest full length play, tempOdyssey, will receive its premiere from Salvage Vanguard in June 2003.
