Salvage Vanguard Theater Lets Loose (For Once)

AUSTIN, TX--Salvage Vanguard Theater celebrates its upcoming year of productions with the Salvage Vanguard Labor Party, a fundraising event benefitting wages for the artists who create the shows, on Sunday, September 1, at ALLGO (701 Tillery St).

The Salvage Vanguard Labor Party will feature a cash bar, a silent auction, and previews of the company's upcoming shows. The silent auction is going to "kick butt" according to SVT board chair Mario Champion. The auction includes donations from Forbidden Fruit, Central Market, Austin Lyric Opera, and many, many more.

Salvage Vanguard Theater will be presenting readings from 16 Spells to Charm the Beast by Lisa D'Amour, Ajax by Alice Tuan, and tempOdyssey by Dan Dietz. But the highlight of the evening will be a concert reading of selections from the new opera MotherBone by Graham Reynolds (composer) and Karen Hartman (librettist). Salvage Vanguard's premiere production of MotherBone will open on Halloween.

At the Labor Party, the company will also honor incoming paid resident company members Dan Dietz and Deanna Shoemaker and also outgoing KMFA director of programming Randy Harriman.
