The Intergalactic Nemesis is Back by Popular Demand

AUSTIN, TX--Due to popular demand, Salvage Vanguard Theater presents Intergalactic Nemesis Redux!, a revival of the limited runs of The Intergalactic Nemesis and Return of the Intergalactic Nemesis, presented in rep for the month of June at Gallery Lombardi (910 W. 3rd St).

Intergalactic Nemesis Redux! is a presentation of alternating performances of The Intergalactic Nemesis and Return of the Intergalactic Nemesis, two episodic radio serials with live sound effects. The Intergalactic Nemesis consists of six 15-minute episodes and Return of the Intergalactic Nemesis has eight ten-minute episodes. The Intergalactic Nemesis ran in serial form for six consecutive weeks last summer on KUT to a total listenership of 90,000 people. At Intergalactic Nemesis Redux! audience members will have the oppotunity to see each of the stories performed live, with the foley art (sound effects) in the starring role.

"I think the reason these shows are so popular is that they mix the best of classic pulp drama with a modern sensibility," says Artistic Director Jason Neulander. "It's like Star Wars meets Raiders of the Lost Ark with a little Flash Gordon thrown in for good measure."

The Story
Molly Sloan is a gritty reporter with a Pulitzer Prize under her belt. Timmy Mendez is her earnest and intrepid research assistant. Ben Wilcott is the man from the future, come back in time to the year 1933 to convince Molly and Timmy that they must help him save Earth from the invading forces of a sludge-based life-form from the planet Zygon. Follow their chilling, yet heartwarming, adventures in The Intergalactic Nemesis (IN1) as they battle to save two galaxies from eminent destruction. When, in Return of the Intergalactic Nemesis (IN2), Molly's former fiance Dr. Lawrence Webster, world-renowned interspacio-temporal quantum physicist, is asked by Molly's father to investigate her mysterious disappearance, it turns out the fate of the entire universe is at stake!

Intergalactic Nemesis Redux! was written by Ray Colgan, Jessica Reisman, and Jason Neulander, with Lisa D'Amour and Julia Edwards. The foley art was created by Buzz Moran and will be performed by Etta Sanders and Hilary Thomas. The show features the voices of Molly Beth Brenner as Molly Sloan, Jon Watson as Timmy Mendez, Ben Willcott as Ben Wilcott, Shannon McCormick as Mysterion and The Robot Emmisary, Deanna Shoemaker as Aughy and Dr. Natasha Zorokov, Carlos Trevino as Dr. Lawrence Webster, and Wayne Allen Brenner as the Announcer. Live music is by Graham Reynolds of Golden Arm Trio.

Intergalactic Nemesis Redux! plays June 7 - 29 with the following schedule. Friday June 7 features The Intergalactic Nemesis (IN1); Saturday June 8 features Return of the Intergalactic Nemesis (IN2); Thursday through Sunday, June 13 - 16 features IN1; Thursday through Sunday, June 20 - 23 features IN2; Thursday, June 27, is IN1; Friday, June 28 is IN2; and Saturday, June 29 is a double feature: IN1 at 2:30 and IN2 at 7:30. All performances are at Gallery Lombardi (910 W. 3rd St) at 7:30 PM (except where indicated). Tickets are $12 for one of the shows or $20 for both.
