Great question, Jason. What do they have in common?

Well, it’s not as obvious as it might seem at first. But people very closely affiliated with both of those projects are coming to Austin Sept. 8 to see Nemesis and possibly produce it! Steve Leber, the legendary rock band manager of Aerosmith, AC/DC, Def Leppard, and many more is coming down. Aaron Harnick, who is producing the current Fiddler revival and is the nephew of Sheldon Harnick, the lyricist of Fiddler, is also coming down.

It seems every time I go to New York these days something good comes of it. Of course, there will be some conceptual changes to the show. Molly is now going to be an orthodox Russian Jew. Ben is going to be this rock god from a band in the future with a reputation for destroying hotel rooms and deflowering teenage girls. We’ll replace Timmy with a character named Bubbie, an 86-year old woman who moonlights as a matchmaker. I think the show will still work though.

This isn’t entirely on topic but just today i was saddened to hear one of my favorite songs of all time — ‘Waterloo Sunset’ by The Kinks covered by Def Leppard.

Yeah, I think that moment for me was when Aerosmith covered “Sunrise, Sunset”.
