Then we'll getting out the flashlights and water works for Abi Bausch's hauntingly beautiful play Voices Underwater. We've got a new summer program for the young SVTers out there and, of course, the always awesome Best Salvage Vanguard Holiday Ever.

[ MUD by Maria Irene Fornes ]

JUNE 1 - JUNE 29, 2007
at The Salvage Vanguard Theater
(2803 Manor Road)

How deep can you love?

Mae is an ironing spitfire with a thirst for knowledge. Lloyd is a desperate simpleton suffering from an undiagnosed illness. Both live in a rural shack that teeters on a promontory. When a barely literate Henry enters their lives, Mae finds a savior from the monotony of her meager existence and Lloyd finds an eternal adversary. Salvage Vanguard is ecstatic to present a work by one of its biggest influences, the ledgendary playwright Maria Irene Fornes. Mud features resident company member Jenny Larson with Jeffrey Mills.

Directed by Jason Neulander.

[ VOICES UNDERWATER by Abi Basch ]

VOICES UNDERWATER

October 26th -November 17th
at The Salvage Vanguard Theater
(2803 Manor Road)

Are your ghosts real?

When a young couple enters an ominous plantation home in Alabama, they are confounded by a deluge of their ancestor’s past. A regional premiere by former Austin playwright Abi Basch, Voices Underwater dives into the ebb and flows of our country’s deep history of prejudice. A chillingly beautiful play, Voices Underwater confronts the ghosts of our past and wades through the depths of haunted hearts.

Directed by Jenny Larson.

[ 2007 SVT Reads! ]

Salvage Vanguard Theater’s SVT Reads! series takes a ‘script in progress’ and pro- vides the playwright with a director, dramaturge, cast and rehearsal space to put the work on its feet for exploration and rewrites. Each new script is presented as a one-day- only production open to the public. The SVT Reads! series is an incomparable way to catch a glimpse of some of the nations up-and-coming playwrights and their newest works.

Moloch by Jason Grote
A post apocalypse battle ensues inside the gates of Heaven.

Phosphorenscense by Cory Hinkle
An avant-garde exploration of a soldier's tortuous duty in Iraq.

The Sandreckoner by Dan Dietz
A student. A teacher. A pizza. A gun. An ancient mathematical problem. A terribly modern tragedy. The evening when the truth comes out? Or just another night in the suburbs.
